Default 02 sensor

I don't know whether you can see from the photo but can anyone offer an opinion on my new O2 sensor received from Berlyn Services. Does it look as though it is the Porsche original version which doesn't have the problem with being waterproof?

Just got my O2 sensor also. Should be straight forward, right? Also, noticed the grease on the thread under the plastic cap. I assume that it should not get on the sensor end. BTW, bought it from Pelican Parts for 122.00. TIA

Well, there has been some discussion about problems when using non-Porsche O2 sensors.

Don't know if the sensor you have is a direct equivalent, but there have been some reports of engine cutouts when driving in very wet weather. Adrian has advised that this can be caused by a non-Porsche O2 sensor. The issue is that the replacement is not water proof (or as water proof, I suppose).

My mechanic used a non-Porsche sensor, and sure enough, during a heavy rain this past fall, I experienced a complete cut out. The car did restart, and all was well, but now I dread the rain.

Fortunately, I live in a place that rains very little, but getting a real Porsche O2 sensor is on my To Do list.
