Somebody had to try it in 17”.
As I already mentioned I really didn’t like how the car drove with 18”s + they look too big on a 964 (imo)
Luckily it wasn’t an expensive mistake.
Thanks again

I've really liked all of your wheel choices so you've had what I'd call a Champagne problem. What's funny is the 17" Cup 1's LOOK the largest of the 3 to me. I think the longer spokes and narrower rims of the Cup 1's compared to the 3 piece wheels in 17 or 18 inch give an optical illusion of a larger (taller) wheel. Do you now have 3 sets of wheels for the car or did you sell some in the process? I had 17" Cup 2's on my 964 because I always liked to look of that wheel on the 993. On the 964 - I ended up preferring the Cup 1's but I never tried the 3 piece wheels - which are really nice.
I sold the 18’s, they looked ok on pictures but in real you could see it’s not a quality rim. The lip was rather bulky and the bolts looked very cheap.
On top of this they were VERY heavy (think this is normal for a fake 3 piece wheel).
Not sure what I’m going to do with the cups, a bit the same problem as with the 18’s. They look ok but again very heavy and you can see that they are not oem 😂.
I’m very pleased how the 17’s look, you can really feel that they are lightweight. The car just drives a lot better. Cheers

Other than that, stunning car man ! I need that CarboneLiv frunk liner for mine. IMHO....there's nothing quite like a skinny black 964 coupe in terms of automotive art . The 3/4 rear view is incomparable .
I had a set of aftermarket Cup 1's and - I agree - they were quite heavy. I got very lucky and found an odd set of factory Cup 1's at a PCA swap meet for $200. Sold the aftermarkets for the same price but had to refinish the factory set. I really like everything you've done with your car. I'm trying to decide what to do with mine in terms of interior. It is very much a stock Targa. I REALLY like what you did with your interior and the new wheels complete the look. I worry the Targa is too relaxed a vibe for an RS style interior I'd like to move toward and a more aggressive stance.
It's funny how much trial and error we go through in the process of finding the right balance. But as you said - third times a charm.
Targa’s are so cool and underrated!
I almost bought a black one just like yours but the car had so many issues..
If it was my car I would do exactly the same
interior wise & stance.
I would for sure leave the cups on.
A Targa speedster look is going to be very cool imo.
Sorry for the bad influence 😉

I actually bought this car with plenty of issues but at the "barn find" price. I revived it from almost lost on a strict budget. Now I'm in the plus mode. Don't want to go crazy - just enough to smooth the remaining rough edges.
Your interior is the really bad influence for me. I've been thinking steering wheel, carpet, door cards to start. I had to rebuild the dash and replace the rear interior (removed for a sub woofer in the late '90's). What you've done with the details inside is stunning, looks custom made, and is therefore dangerous for the wallet. But so tempting.
I think the low hanging fruit should be picked. The cap and rotor are not too expensive and really easy to access. Having either fail while on a drive will cost more for the tow. Having the distributors rebuilt is a bit spendy.
