Default The day may have come...

Hi all,

After a decade long love affair with my 964, I'm thinking of moving on. I'm looking for an assessment of possible value here as I haven't been on the market for some time.
-GPW 1990 C2
-115,000 miles
-kwv3 suspension
-custom ducktail (club sport UK)
-Fuchs wheels / Michelin Pilot sports
-fabspeed RSR exhaust
-custom Recaro LS seats
-custom door cards/ interior trims
-new brakes / plugs/ wires

-all original parts kept, including:
-full original, complete exhaust, freshly powder coated
-refurbished D90s with Bridgestone tires
-original seats

I love this car and she runs like a well tuned fighter plane. Alas, I have my sight on another that I'm after and another four cars in my stable. I'm truly not fishing for buyers, but looking for thoughts on price from the experts.

Always loved your interior and that ducktail...
Curious what other cars you're after in the stable?

... one MILLION dollars! Kidding aside, handsome, well-sorted car, should bring top $$. Good luck!

There is a reasonably similar, not as nice, white 91 c2/5 on BAT which should provide some insight. I am guessing your car is a gasket car or had that done given how spotless it is underneath and given everything you have done is desirable, or reversible, you should have no trouble selling.

Pricewise, your range is high 60s to low mid 70s given what I have seen on the market and given your mileage; some folks shy away from over 100k mile cars. Stupidly, for reasons already covered on this forum but the BAT crowd tend to value lower miles cars over really well sorted cars that have seen some more of the road. Given what you have done to the car is what many of us here would also want done, you may get even more; I have seen and heard of cars changing hands in the 80s but those are usually 80k and less miles cars and/or unique colors. I think if you could get 70k you should be happy and the buyer too.
This is a rough estimate based on what I can see, much will depend on the state of the paint up close and the engine work that has been done.

Question for you: what Fuchs wheels is the car wearing? Are those OEM center caps, I notice some are painted and in other photos, black. Also, what size wheels and tires if you don't mind me asking.

Many thanks and good luck with the sale, I wish I was a buyer.

Best,

This is a tough place to be. Right now the market seems to work this way: A shop/dealer finds a 40k C2 in rough shape, cleans it up, posts it on instagram for 60k and someone buys it in a second.
An owner that built a car for themselves and maintained it with an open checkbook offers a car like this with a huge amount of work and expensive parts on it for 80k, and often the car sits for a long time.
Both are 80k+ cars, but people seem to prefer to buy them on a "payment plan"... maybe they just like keeping their local mechanics in business!

Very true! For many, the cliché of the most expensive Porsche is the cheapest Porsche you can find is still unknown.

@misterbeverlyhills thanks for your reply, I appreciate the input. On you questions - the Fuchs are 17in Fuchs classic wheels. I ordered these from the Fuchs Felge and spec'd a Michelin Pilot Sport tire. Rear tires are 255/40/17 and fronts are 205/50/17. I tend to rotate center caps! I have a few sets. The gold crests are on in a few pics and the fuchs logos are on in others.

Thanks again! Not sure where or what venue on which to list my 964. I sort or hate the thought of BAT, but they do a nice job with listings.

@Tmistry as @Goughary said -- "say it ain't so!!" one of the few cars I totally enjoyed the build. Good luck with the sale and I would have bought this in a heartbeat if I am in the market.

Wow surprised that you are selling it. Your car is the exact to mine with the same color interior. Best of luck with the sale. Hope you get what your asking for it.

Very tasteful mods. That said - I always think mods make it tougher to sell, since you have to find someone that likes what you liked. If I was shopping - hell ya I'd buy this car.

Hagerty valuation tool says 90 C2 coupe Excellent condition should be about 65K. A perfect car is 86.5K. My guess, your car - with the mods you've done and condition (without seeing or driving it) - I think you could ask between 50 and 70K and it would be reasonable.

I've bought/sold a few things on BAT. It's good and bad. Last time I sold, I didn't like where they set the reserve (too low). But - they get a lot of views, and 911's do well on that site (in contrast, Ferrari 308's do not). And finally, in fairness to them, the motorcycle I sold got to within $100 of the reserve, so BAT made up the 100 and it sold.

Good luck. Keep us updated.

My two cents is somewhere around $65K +/-. Higher miles but extensive maintenance and quality parts so evens out.
