Sounds to me like most people leave the primary muffler in place and just change the secondary with various lengths of G or J pipes. Apparently that results in more volume than to take out the primary and leave the stock secondary. Yes?

You are correct. A bit louder, but also deeper sounding.

Default Primary delete saves weight

I recently installed a cup pipe to replace the primary muffler. Sounds great IMO, and not too loud. Biggest difference though is weight: Stock primary 22.9lbs, cup pipe/bypass 8.4lbs, (straps and hardware included for both) as weighed on a digital bathroom scale

I’m also thinking now that adding jet-hot or swain ceramic coat might enable deleting some of the stock heat shielding to save more back-end weight

I took that same route - primarily because I got the pipe at a great price as part of a larger used parts purchase. I wouldn't want to go much louder but a cat bypass might be a thought.

Could it be the lenght of the pipe that make it vibrating and therfore droning ?
The short G pipe is more stifer ...

I think the main difference between the g pipe and the monger pipes is that the longer attach to a bracket at the front of the motor and therefore transfer a ton of sound to the motor. Which then is attached through the motor mounts and into the cabin.

Keep in mind- if you have a targa or cab- all this is moot and your interior will be way quieter. Since most of the sound is projected by the concave roof acting like a speaker.
