Not exactly. I just changed mine for a Nardi dished wheel in suede. What I would say is try the dish before you buy if you can. Having made the change I would prefer less "dish" than I now have. The suede is fine though.

I’ve had both. I currently have suede because I like the way it feels, and it grips better if my hands are sweaty. The leather rim also felt a little thin to me.

They’re very similar, so it really depends on what you like and what you are using it for.

I'm using it for a standard steering wheel. I'm only changing because I like the look and I want to remove my air bags

Sorry, I meant what kinds of driving are you going to use it for? Daily, weekend, track, autocross, all?

If the latter two are included, I’d suggest the suede. Otherwise, whichever is preferred.

I went with the Mod7 (for the dish vs the flat Prototipo) in leather. There's a long thread, several years old, over on the Pelican Technical forum entitled something like "show me your steering wheels" and some have commented that the suede or Alcantara wheels don't wear as well. I prefer the grippiness of suede, but didn't want a raggity-looking wheel after a couple years.

I have a suade mod7. After about 6000mi the areas where my thumbs go are flattened and shiny. Wish it was a little thicker but love the dish.

Considering one of these:

My MPI Autodromo 80, I replaced a Mod 7 wheel installed by the PO. Less then half the dish of the Mod 7, but I've since added a JWest eccentric adapter that brings the rim out to probably 60-70% of the Mod 7 rim position. The view of the instruments is nearly as good as OEM (that is to say, you still can't see all the gauges without looking under or over the rim). I like this steering wheel a lot, partly because it's not the ubiquitous Momo Prototipo (and I like the Prototipo), but mostly because it's a little larger in diameter (360mm), substantial, with beautiful leather, and the rim is a little beefier.

Sorry I missed this. Dish is 60mm. I have a new shorter hub waiting to go on which might improve things. I like the suede but it's very much a personal thing. if you can try before you buy.
