Finally got around to fitting these. Relatively straightforward install.
The wooden **** and aluminum shift shaft is from Car-Bone. A bit pricey but the machining of the aluminum shaft and finish of the wooden **** is impeccable and the fitment is straightforward. If you trim the OEM rubber boot carefully (the bellows is underneath the leather boot in any 964), it will seat cleanly into a groove machined into the bottom end of the shift shaft which avoids an unfinished transition where the base of the shift shaft mates up with the rubber boot.
The plastic console finishing ring around the rubber boot (ReBoot from Swine Eleven) is a nicely made piece as well. Snaps into the recess left by the stock leather piece like it was OEM. I wish it were available in a textured finish that harmonized better with the stock plastic tray sitting under the handbrake...but you don’t really notice it once its installed.
No affiliation to either company just sharing how it turned out.
That is so true. I am working on a couple of plugs to fit those holes. There are many rubber plugs everywhere that could do the job with some finessing, but I working on a an aluminum base with a rubber plug to fit the hex.
When we made the ReBoot we bought about 4-5 different OEM panels and trays(including new OEM), the color and texture variance was significant so we matched the material and got as close as we could to the finish while still allowing them to be painted easily (which we also offer on our site in some contrasting colors).
For a more matte finish a little scotchbright scrub and a light coat of Trim Black will give it a bit more texture.
That's not what the carbone piece looks like. At least the current version. The lower set screw is inset in the groove that retains the lip on the boot (ie its not visible). Admittedly they could have made the upper set screw less conspicuous by moving it to the front or back of the shaft. But its fine and more secure than a press fit -- I simply rotated the visible set screw toward the passenger side.

Thanks! Exactly...

Its a nicely finished piece...thanks for spending the time and $$$ to develop this type of stuff.
