I purchased this car and its on a truck on the way to me now. Hope it goes ok. I know the AC needs work and the sunroof too. Should be a fun adventure. I have been pouring over the 964 forum to understand what I have gotten myself into but super excited. I have wanted a 964 for a long time and it seemed like a good driver.

Congratulations! I was keeping an eye on that car as well. Would be curious as to the condition, perhaps you could provide an update upon delivery.

Congrats. Was eyeing her on eBay. Looks to be a very nice example.

Like yourself, I just bought a 964 which parks next to my 991 RS. A perfect counterpart, and I suspect you will feel the same way.

Enjoy

Congratulations and welcome to the group. What are your plans? Will you keep it as is or do you have any planned mods?

It has a rather rare interior color grey silk. The carpet is in pretty good shape but impossible to replace so I ordered a black square weave (356 style) full carpet from Autobahn Interiors to replace it so I can safely store the grey silk - plus I think it will look much better. I might add the RUF Motronic to improve performance a bit and then just detail every square inch and sort the known issues AC and Sunroof. Of course I'll replace all fluids and examine bushings etc. I might change the radio to the new Porsche Classic. Other than that just drive it.

Welcome!
Sounds like a good plan. Looking forward to updates as you get familiar with the 964 platform.

I noticed you have the power steering brace on your 91. I understand that for 90 and 91 cars this brace gets mounted differently. True? If so any issues? Productive mod?

Had one installed on both a '90 and '91, only just a slight bit of massaging of the lines is required. The upgraded bushings are the key. It's a subtle mod, with a slight increase in heft.

I love the 964 platform, it's a nice rigid chassis with a lot of potential, but Porsche had to address customer NVH concerns so it softened the rest of car a bit. Improve the steering (brace, bushing, tie rods), shifting (goldenrod), stiffer engine mounts, and pick an exhaust bypass and you've got a different car. None of the mods are necessary to enjoy the car, but I worry that a stock 964 will feel too soft to a 991 owner otherwise.
