First, want to thank everyone here for the incredible amount of knowledge and willingness to help on this forum. I have been enlightened on just how much I don't know from reading here over the last several months and the buyers' guides have been invaluable.

I am in the market for my first 911 and would love to get some input and thoughts on this vehicle for sale. I did a search to see if I could find it on any other threads to no avail, but sorry if its been discussed elsewhere.

'91 C2 Cab, Tiptronic. 85k miles, asking $30k, Supposedly clean, but has been on the lot for a long time. Mixed reviews on here for the dealer who move a lot of 911s (Grand Prix, Portland OR). Was hoping to get some initial takes before I reach out to make an offer / get a PPI (hopefully from Kurt at Marque Motors who comes highly recommended here).

1991 C2 Cabriolet

Thanks again!

Welcome!

Are you set on a tiptronic or are you looking for a car in that price range? For a bit more you could find 5-speed C2 cabs ($36-$38k for 90-91, $38-$45k for 92-93-94).

Thanks for the reply. I'm pretty well set on a tip cab for the price break and to help my wife feel less intimidated driving the car. Maybe the next one!

Check out the thread Goughary started about buying your first 964. The poster who said expect to spend $10k more on top of your purchase sorting and fixing is spot on. As a DIY person I love it and have been enjoying my Targa whether working on it or driving it but that’s not for everyone so eyes wide open on that if you don’t plan to do your own work the $ can add up fast. And if that’s the case, then I would highly recommend paying up for the most sorted and clean car you can find and get. Will always be cheaper than getting a less expensive car and sorting it yourself.

Thanks for the rec - Goughary's thread is one of the first I found on here and helped open my eyes. Your other advice is spot on and well taken.

The price is about right for that car if it's in decent condition with those miles. The PPI will always be the key and in that price range you're going to get one that is probably decent but will still need some work. I think of it like a house - are the mechanicals solid? Cause you can take your time to fix interior issues, find a new dash pad, whatever cosmetic things need doing. But if it has mechanical issues which prevent you from using and/or enjoying it, it can get pricey quickly and just as important ruin your enjoyment of your new car. So, my advice is to make sure it's as solid as possible mechanically and deal with a car that has some cosmetic issues since at that price it isn't going to be perfect (and that's totally fine).

No affiliation but I stumbled across this 1991 C2 tip cabriolet on Craigslist:

Appears legit but Craigslist obviously has many scammers - especially for Porsches.

Plenty of air cooled Porsche shops in the MD / VA area to help with a PPI.
