At this rate, and seeing how gorgeous it turned out, I think this will be permanent

I wish I could buy this car - I'd do a peel video on youtube, would be so satisfying

Peel off ok?
As some of you know, I have been planning on using AutoFlex Express paint (peel-able paint) to change my car color from Polar Silver to Miami Blue. This is a great way to quickly change the color of your car while maintaining it’s original paint and color underneath. I drove 4 hours east to one of the top installers in the country. This is all he paints anymore, no automotive paint. Here are some pictures of the process.
Car ripped down, taped off and ready for some base coats. We want to start with 7 base coats. You need this many coats so it is easier to peel off whenever I want to change the color (5 years or so). We started with 2 coats of clear Spray Wrap Pro.
Next, we tinted the Spray Wrap Pro (Autoflex) with some grey tint to build in a little color. 2 more coats.
Now the fun part. Let’s add some Miami Blue tint to the next 3 coats.
With the booth lights, my camera could not pick up the “Miami” color which is closer to a Caribbean blue with a little more green in it. This makes it look more purple than it is.
Laying down that beautiful paint…
Final coat of Miami.
Time for 2 coats of clear coat.
With Autoflex paint, you will get a little more orange peel than traditional paint. That is easily eliminated by a quick 600 grit sand down and then whats called a “flood coat” of clear the next day. We did 2 more coats of clear the next day.
The total process took 3 long days. Day 2 was the easiest as all we did was cut the clear and re-clear.
Here is the finished product. The color changes drastically in different lighting.
This was pretty dark here.
Smooth as glass.
And now back home…
Hope you enjoyed!!
