Finding an RS America tail here in Australia was pretty much impossible so I purchased a 3.2 Carrera whale tail. Only differences being the black colour around the grill area and the wiper delete plug. When having the wing painted i ditched the black grill section and had the wiper delete plug cut out and cleaned up.

Surprised to see these are only $670 from Sunset. Are they actually available or are they going to call me a week after taking my money to tell me they can't get it?

That's just for the spoiler base (#2 in the diagram above), and not the complete tail with all additional parts needed. Rubber Edging is another $775, Vent Grilles another $426 each (need 2), Air Guides another $128 each (need 2), etc... I looked into it at some point, not cheap by any means and much more economical to find a used one with a lid. Carrera tails are cheaper and more common, just need to fab some brackets if using an earlier deck lid.

Understood, but the other parts are mostly interchangeable from a 911 lid with a wiper hole, which I already have (with shaved wiper hole.) You can pick one of those up for well under 1k if you wanted to build a genuine RSA wing on a budget. In reality Im probably going carbon fiber next (these things are HEAVY) but the idea of buying the RSA base to upgrade to a genuine one for net < $1k is slightly tempting, albeit meaningless if they're in fact NLA.

I had one of these years ago and sold it. It came as kit and the part number was 91151290900 https://www.sunsetporscheparts.com/o...it-91151290900 This is actually the part number for the 3.2 carrera kit but mine came without the wiper hole which is the only physical difference between them. The part numbers on the plastic base are all old and should be ignored. They actually mate the base with the louver section from the turbo. There are a few additional parts that are 3.2 related you won't need but everything needed to mount it to the lid is in the kit.

If you were to get a 3.2 Carrera tail and deck lid (which is what I did), you'll need these adaptors... http://www.gt-racing.com/911-964-hin...tors-part-11a/
Excuse the dirty car but these took little effort to make.
