Disable Passenger Airbag?

I don't want to reopen the debate about whether or not to do this. I have done it, and I respect everyone else's personal decision.
My question is this: does installing 928.612.220.00 get the job done by itself, or do I have to disconnect the white plug with the two wires as well?
By the way, 928.612.220.00 is a $35 part (purchased from Autometrics) not a $100 part.
Thanks!

$35.12 at www.pelicanparts.com too (a Rennlist sponsor).
Sorry, can't answer your question (but have one of these on order myself).

Can't find value of resistor.
Hi all,
I searched all over but can't find the actual value of the resistor. Is it a 2 or 5 ohm? I'm trying to disable the passenger airbag on a 91 cab. It is impossible to fit any seat in the back and be able to open and close the top. Thanks.

Found it.
Viper Bob in a post says 2.8 ohm 1/4 watt for the passenger side.

Patrick,
The resistance value depends upon the type of airbag. They are NOT all the same.
The easiest way (using a low ohm meter) is to measure the actual resistance of the airbag and substitute this value with a resistor. However many people still have the warning lights come on and require a reset. If you read the entire thread you posted you will see this mentioned more than once. One guy even pulled the airbag warning lamp. I have seenthis many times when 964s and 993s have been sold on and thenew owner cops the repair bill.
I have been researching this issue myself for other reasons and I recommend you take a look at the airbag disable switches that are being offered in the USA. This way you can arm and disable the airbag as required. Just do a Google search.
Ciao,
Adrian.

You're right.
I should have ohmed it out. I did not and I have the lights coming on. The seat belt and the airbag lamps. I will check the correct value and then do a reset. The airbag I have has two-two conductor connectors. I placed a resistor on each.
At least I know the airbag is disabled and the car seat is safe in that regard. I tried a few booster seats in the back. I can see a coupe fitting but with the cab the hinges and the rear window movement is obstructed.
Thanks again.

Guys I hate to dig up this old post but I am carrying out this process and would like some advice if possible. How do I mount the resistor in the connector or connectors? If there is only one connector do I place one end of the resitor in the plug and the other?? If there are two connectors do I loop one side of the resistor over to the other plug??? Apologies but electrical repairs are new to me.

I am curious if it is possible to run a no airbag steering wheel with a functional passenger airbag?
I assume that if possible you would always trigger the aurbag light right?
Thanks in advance!
