Installing LED Headlights from John Audette

Yeah, I agree. Getting them to fit is a *major* pain in the a$$
I follow this one rule, that all mods must be reversible. And I think I broke my own rule here, I doubt that I would be able to install H5 headlights again (but then again who wants to).

Has anyone else installed Audette JW Speaker LED lights in their 964?
Is all this hammering and bending necessary?
Surely not......
I don’t want to mods that require hammering and bending - but I would love to have LED’s on my car.
Any input is appreciated!

They only fit after "hammering & bending", but it's not as bad as it sounds.
I mean it's all invisible and unless you want to go back to H5 it's not a problem

Staying with H4’s

Other people also make LED headlights. I installed Flat6 headlights on mine with 0 issues. Plug and play and go. Even with fluted lenses, it’s so much better.

Burning Brakes
I had to bend the outer flange (which the gasket sits around) inward a bit in a few areas to have mine fit properly. An oak dowel and a hammer helped that along without incident.

Great write up. Hope to get mine installed before the weekend if John doesn't forget the gaskets or other misc hardware that wasn't included in the initial delivery. It's been an ordeal but he is very responsive and excellent customer service. Patience just wanes b/c it is the holiday shipping times and the instant gratification itch that needs to be scratched.
Upon test fitting the lights are nice and bright and more clear compared to my H5's and LED bulb. However, fitment leaves little to be desired. I had to remove the city light assembly as it kept getting in the way of the bottom tab. Also, I may have to bend certain sections of the outer ring to get it to sit flush.

Don't bend the outer ring...if it doesn't sit flush there is an issue on the inside, not the outside, of the bucket. In all likelihood you need to bend back or remove the h5 tabs that will no longer be used .

I bent back the tabs on the inside. Maybe i just need to push the trim ring a bit more to pop in place. I'll try again once I have the gaskets.

I posted this in another thread and replicating here for future Rennlisters who may want to install these headlights.
My thoughts....As mentioned below these were a pain in the **** to adjust. I had to constantly remove to mess with the adjustment screws. Not to mention the rubber grommets to keep the lens housing in place. Bad design in my opinion. And city light is all but useless for those in the U.S. that should be an option or at least plugged up as it gets in the way of the fastening screw to hold the light onto the car.
I've recently installed a set of Audette Gold Series LEDs with Bosch 4475 Fluted lenses. Outside of adjusting (which was a PITA) they light output is good and bright for my bad eyes. I probably still need to fiddle with it more but so far it seems "good enough"
The last few pics are of the darkest and literally no light road I could find in the business/Amazon warehouse park near my home.
