Default Window Tinting.....

Tell me your thoughts here....... My windows are tinted. I bought the car that way, the previous owner had the windows tinted.

There are some small scratch spots in the tint here and there, it could use a refreshing. I am considering having this done one day soon, maybe even this week. I'm also considering having a look at the car while the existing tint is removed and see what I think. Maybe I'd like there being no tint? Might give the interior more of an open feel? If my car were any color other than black, I don't think I'd be ok with a window tint.

What side of the fence do you fall on?

I personally don't like tint that much. I am more of a fishbowl type person.

For the best of both worlds, I put a clear ceramic UV blocking tint in mine which keeps the car noticeably cooler in the Florida sun.

Do get a reference for the shop. My guy cut the tint right on the glass and shredded the rubber trim on my rear window.

FIrst thing I did when I got mine was remove the tint. I hate the way tint looks, besides that, I'm always wearing sunglasses when it's sunny out.

Living in Vegas in the summer, 120º is hot with or without tint, lol.

Agree, no tint. In BC, it is illegal to have tint on the driver's side window and the windshield. Nothing looks worse than a car with heavy tint on all but the 2 windows. Digressing but I can't imagine the life of a police officer as he/she approaches a vehicle with all the windows tinted.

I suggest doing a lighter tint(35-50%) for the sides and back to help keep temps cooler inside and UV protection and doing a clear or slightly tinted windshield for the glare and UV protection. On my Audi A3 I had them install a 60% (sounds high but its almost completely see through) on the front windshield and it has helped so much with reducing summer time heat with the black leather. I'd recommend searching up some YouTube videos on 3m Crystalline C50, C70 and C90.

Just fine considering what it is (30 yo German car,) but if you look at the photos I posted, you may notice I usually have the windows down. I'll drive in stone cold conditions with the heat on high and a heavy jacket if I need to. If it's hot, it can be a little uncomfortable in stop and go traffic with the windows down but I'm always pointed towards the mountains so it's not uncomfortable for long with the windows down.

I keep the windows down for the wonderful noise.

I'm a windows down guy all the time too. Never do that in any other car, but somehow the cabin size and shape is so conducive to it. Plus, like you said, the sound!

I definitely would keep the tint. I tint all my cars. Much more relaxing and comfortable. I hate riding in a fish bowl with all the glare and solar radiation. Just go to a well respected tint shop and have them remove and replace with some 20% all around!

IMO, classic cars (like the 964) look better without tint.

I prefer no tint... but I have tint.

The biggest disadvantage is the UV rays on your interior if you run without tint... second biggest is heat.

Depending on your situation and environment, that may not be a problem.

Ypu could also just go without for a little while and see how you like it.

Depends on everyone's situation I guess with the sun. Appearance-wise, I most certainly prefer no tint. Fishbowl looks SO good. I bought my M3 with tint and just have been to lazy to remove it.
