Default 1994 964 alarm question

I'm looking at pulling the trigger on a 94 964; the owner is not sure if there is an alarm and can't find the manual; there is no key lock on the inside door like the earlier G models. Did this model come w/alarms already installed or was it still an option?? Can a factory alarm still be installed by a Porsche dealer??
Many thanks....

Should have a factory alarm

just click the hood down to the safety, not all the way. Lock doors, open hood. Should go off. Could do same with doors. Leave window down, lock doors, open door.

it’s controlled by the door handle key, not like the older G bodies.

Agree with Spyerx unless it is a speedster. The speedster did not have an alarm that is why all the 94's panels have DOT vin stickers on US spec cars.

Cobalt, Thank you for mentioning the lack of an alarm on the Speedster. I knew I didn't have one, but I always thought it had been removed by the PO. I have never seen any documentation on this and would like to read about it. I do have a full set of factory manuals as well as the Speedster supplement. I'll start searching tonight! Any help from you would be appreciated. Thanks, Roy

I have to verify that myself. I know TSB 9301 states that the markings were required because the speedster came without a central locking system. I believe it was the Technik Information guide for 1994 MY that stated the lack of alarm.

From what I can tell from the 1994 Speedster Technik manual the car has an alarm system, but no central locking system. This information is very brief and quite vague. I also saw reference to an alarm system in one of the 1994 Speedster sales brochures. Again very vague. Any help here would be appreciated.

I agree it is vague. Although how would the alarm function. It is my understanding it is activated by the key but will sound if a door, hood F&R, glove box is opened or radio removed. If you have no central locking how is the alarm activated and would it activate with only one door locked?

Cobalt, Those are good questions and it sounds like you understand the system. I wish I knew the answers and hope someone who does will chime in. Maybe another Speedster owner.
