I'm currently running the following setup with absolutely no problems rubbing, lowered at RS-spec height: Fronts 7.5x18 ET50 Rears 10x18 ET65 (w/ 21mm spacer)
I found a decent deal on some 17s that I'd love to switch to. They are: Fronts 8.5x17 ET56 Rears 10x17 ET61
My concern is with the fronts – is 8.5" simply too wide to work at that offset? Would a wheel spacer solve a fitment issue?
Pic of current setup here (because everybody likes eye-candy):
I figured I'd update after doing some more research for anyone trying to do this in the future. It seems like they might just fit. My main concern is the fronts.
Stock D90 fronts vs proposed (Oz Futuras) here:
I will update again after receiving wheels and tires.
I run 94 turbo size wheels on my C2 all the time no issues. Although the fronts are only 8" wide. 8 ET52 an 8.5 ET 56 You might be OK with some minor rubbing at full lock as the sizes push the wheel in 10mm over the 8's.
@cobalt Looks awesome! What tires are you running?
They are 18 x 8 ET52 225/40/18 front with a 3mm spacer & 18 x 10 ET61 265/35/18 rears MP4S's on the C2 with about 1.3/.9 IIRC degrees negative camber Currently at RS+10mm. I am switching out the current suspension to MCS 2 way with custom springs soon. The fenders are rolled although not necessary for street driving. The turbo is basically the same except 285/30/18 rears. I used to run 235/295 but the price of a 295 became prohibitively expensive for the miles I put on her.
As Spyerx said it is a bit tight running 8.5 235 fronts on a narrow body but can be done but each car can be a little different and can be more of a PITA to fit than the gains achieved. WB cars can run much wider tires and rims if they use the narrow rear trailing arms. I run 265 on a 9.5 front on my WB track car.
Don't forget tire sidewall shoulder configuration plays a role in fitting tires of this size as well.
BTW I am very impressed with the MP4S's. One of the best street tires I have ever owned.
