Post Door locks don't work with key

I'm working to restore my '91 C4. Neither of my keyed locks work. They turn, but will not lock or unlock the door. I'm using an aftermarket remote to lock and unlock the vehicle. Working inside the door is a PAIN and I can't seem to see the broken or loose linkages. Does anyone have some wisdom on the subject that you'd care to share?

At the inside part of your door at the 'lock-assembly' there is a hard to find/to see tiny (mostly) white wire with a contact.
This can fail by aging or simple breakage...
This part is often overlooked when you have key/lock problems.

Hope this helps.

Central locking module failure can also cause this. If so, you can sometimes reset by locking the doors from the inside from the center console with the doors closed. Temporary fix.
