Hi Cobalt,
The April '94 R&T has a 0-100-0 competition....
3.6 Turbo 0-100 11.7, 100-0 4.7 sec. in 351 feet
Shelby 427 Cobra 0-100 11.3, 100-0 5.8 sec. in 425 feet
Viper RT/10 12.1, 5.1, 380
ZR-1 12.5, 4.8, 361
512 TR 12.3, 5.2, 394
As pointed out above, it appears R&T has the most conservative numbers. I also have a Motor Trend from 8/93 and it gives the following on the 3.6 Turbo:
0-100-0 14.7 (did not break it down)
0-60 4.4
1/4 12.7@112.3
60-0 120 feet
Slalom 68.0
Skidpad .90
In the new Motor Trend I received yesterday the GT3 is 0-100 in 9.1 and 100-0 in 318 feet, non PCCB. Actually I would like to time mine once, just once though and probably next year right before I go w/ the LWF and RS clutch.
I have tried to save as many Porsche tests as possible over the years.

I find those numbers to be all screwy.
Even the 91 3.3 turbos did 0-100 in 11.1 sec. I would be rather surprised if the 3.6 turbo did 0-100 in only 11.7 sec. If their number of 0-60 in 4.4 sec is true (which I doubt, more like 4.6) then they are saying that it takes the 3.6 turbo 7.3 sec to go another 40 MPH. NO WAY. If anything the car is at least as fast from 60 to 100 definitely not slower. I have seen times closer to 9.5 sec to 100 (Not scientific approach) A buddy and a stop watch. Slow at the click too.
I know my 3.6 is as fast as a stock 993TT slower 0-60 faster from 60 to 100. I have had some fun playing. There is no way a stock TT does 0-100 in only 11 sec.
I doubt there is any validity to the numbers posted by R&T for any of those cars. I have always found R&T to be more realistic in their numbers than most but sometimes they could be way off.
I have a G tech device I have been attempting to use. If the temps are in the 50's as they claim I will try to get some readings this weekend.
I'll let you know.

Just for reference, when the magazines tested the 964 (plain vanilla model) for the first time, they also reported sub-5 second times. R&T got 4.9 (Feb. 1989) and C&D got 4.8 (Feb. 1989). Both reports were done in Europe (non-USA models?). I always wondered if Porsche rolled out some warmed up examples for these initial press reports. Some back of the envelope calcualtions would suggest these times require around 280 hp at the wheels. Interestingly, when C&D tested a USA model here (August 1989) they only got 5.1.

I'm almost certain that C&D's test of a 3.6 Turbo showed 0-60 in 4.0 seconds. This is from memory, and I don't recall the 0-100 time, though 9.5 sounds about right. However, I don't think there is any car that does 60-100 in fewer seconds than 0-60 (remember that the road tests do violent dropped-clutch launches); the power required to reach a velocity increases exponentially as speed increases.

I am going to attempt to get some readings with this G tech device this weekend. I have one of the older models so I will have to record and post numbers since it is not PC compatable.
The problem with the turbo is the darn lag off the line. You loose tremendous time waiting for the boost to build. I do not plan on destroying my clutch or burning up my S0 2's and don't expect anything near 4.0 sec 0-60 time. However when you throw this thing into second and especially third it just catapults the car with incredible acceleration. I would have to say that the car is at least as fast from 60-100 as it is from 0-60. Thats taking into consideration twenty less mph to obtain no lag and momentum. If I can shift fast enough and maintain boost I should see 0-100 times in at least in the low 10 sec range. This will make me more than happy.

I don't know if I have any roads around that are long and flat enough to get an accurate reading for 130. I might just have to play and get the 0-100 times first. I can brake and talk my way out of 100mph but the locals might frown at 130. I will have to try this one stretch of road (sans Police) going both directions one way slightly up hill the other slightly down and average them.
I'll keep you posted.

Do not forget the US models sit higher and are heavier by 25 kgs over the European models. Plus if you add a sunroof there is another 20 kgs.

Oh come on Cobalt, just give it some more "turbo booooost" and before you know it...130. Go out at 2:00am or at shift change. You just need to get it there and those big reds will get you back down in a hurry. Just keep the V1 on high!
