Just to follow up, I received a new DME relay from Pelican parts a couple days ago and, plugged it in and the car fired up with a half crank of the engine. All of you that have had a spare dme relay in the glove box for 10+ years might want to check it. The one I had as a spare in my glove box for the past 15 years was bad and the one in my fuse box was bad too.

Glad it was an easy fix... despite the faulty new, but 15 years old DME relay that interfered with the diagnosis. Lesson learned here as well, don't assume the spare works after just sitting in a glove box.
