Default Is this 964/993 5/6 speed g50?

Hello guys, I got this transmission from salvage and have no idea where it came from. It is missing the nose case and the center case has some cracks.
the numbers on the center case are 950 301 102 8R
on the front case are 950 301 101 3R
serial number is missing couple of numbof but my guess would be G5052 2 003439

Can anyone please help to identify this gearbox?

Thank you

It can't be a 993TT box those are G64/51's. In any case it is a valuable box I must assume it is from either a 964 3.3T or a 964 3.6T since the late MY 930's used G50/50 not G50/52 boxes

I came across this website http://www.gboxweb.com/g50specs.html

G50/52 according to the above is from 964T but didn't say if its 3.3T or 3.6T

Cobalt, thank you for the info. Since this box is halfway open, there are for sure some missing parts that I will need to complete the build, do you have a build guide or can point me to one where I can get all related part numbers for the missing parts. I know it will be hard for me to put this box together but where I live there is no one can or will spend the time to put it together for me.

Another question, the center case is badly cracked, I assume that the g64 center case is the same as g50? Please correct me.

Thank you

AFAIK the transmission housings are all different and NLA from Porsche although the gear housing which I believe you are asking about 950.301.911.05 is still available from The factory https://www.sunsetporscheparts.com/o...ng-95030191105

I am not as familiar with the G64 cases although it would appear that the gear housing is the same part number. I have a G64 in storage with a G50/03 and G50/20 I will take a look later.

As far as part numbers the best is to download a copy of the 964 PET . https://www.porsche.com/all/media/pd...SA_KATALOG.pdf

Another great source would be Matt Munson form Guard he frequents Pelican and occasionally here as well. If anyone has your answers he does.

From the info I got from your previous posts, I assumed that this is a 964T box. But it is not an LSD as I have span one axle and the opposite axle went the opposite direction. Aren't all 964T LSD?

Thank you

AFAIK all the 964T's came with the 20/100 LSD. This can be a result of worn plates or just not enough friction to keep the other axle spinning in the same direction. You need to clamp one axle and test the LSD to see if it needs rebuilding. It is not an inexpensive rebuild the plates are expensive and it is laborious. Although if you remove the unit from the transaxle and replace it in the same box you won't have much issue with the lash which is a time consuming process. These LSD's have a tendency to be rather noisy and IMO not the best they fail early in life. They will grind at low speeds and reverse making all sorts of noises. When they fail the noise goes away. Porsche recommends friction modifiers added to the oil which IMO defeats the purpose of having the LSD. At the cost of rebuilding these you are part of the way to a better unit like Guard or other manufacturer's. If you have the trans remove the axle and pull the side cover you will know immediately if you have the LSD or not.
