Default Pricing of 964 Engine?

How much should I expect to pay for a complete 964 engine, with good compression and leakdown numbers? What about if it includes the g50/64 transaxle? Am building an SC hotrod and have seen numbers all over the place. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

I have found 964 engines a bit cheaper than 993 engines but early engine needing a rebuild and update around $10-12k late model $13-14k and in great condition needing nothing around $17-19k on up. The G50/64 isn't worth much around $2-3k tops in good condition. A G50/03 or 05 runs around $5-9 depending on miles and condition.

Numbers will vary depending on condition and needs.

Thanks very much, Cobalt. By “needing update”, you mean an ‘89-90 engine needing to have head gaskets added? This is a ‘91 engine with head gaskets, runs great with good compression and leakdown, but about 150k miles.

“$17k needing nothing” yet a rebuild is $15-20k++??? I’m told a reseal on my 993 is $15k (it drips a few quarter sized drops after every drive) and that assumes no actual repair or parts replacement.

The updated engines began mid year 91. Make sure it is . That is all the money either way based on miles. What are the leak down and compression numbers? In any case I would plan on opening up any engine I have seen all sorts of issues on low mile engines yet I see 115k mile engines with perfect numbers.
