This install looks tight but who knows if it's anything like the kit you're actually getting. Ebay is really the wild west with this kind of stuff.

It's easy to get the density wrong so they are too hard or too soft. Many recovers end up with wavy piping.

In short, if I had $3,200 to spend on original sports seats that needed nothing, then I'd do it that way long before recovering a cheaper set.
I'm seeing horribly recovered seats on ebay for $1500 and you can definitely tell the difference. I do have a couple local guys (brother in law being one of them) who are very good and have said "most kits will need some custom work to tighten up" so I assume they are at least capable of making the best of the situation, but I'd rather not start the process with a handicap. I'm going to pull the trigger on the black ones, they look fantastic. It's just a matter of figuring out the route to go with the Burgundy interior. I doubt I'm going to stumble into some of those (original) in my color in great condition to match the rest of a refreshed interior.

Your seats look amazing!!

Autobahn does great work but if it was me I'd try and find a set of original usable seats. If you decide to have a set recovered go with one the highly recommended shops.

But I need two sets... looks like recover kit is around 800 and labor is around 800...
$3200 seems like a good price. I bought a set recovered by a reputable interior specialist for $3700 last year

If you want to get really spendy, look for RS America seats, where there were fewer to begin with and the fabric covering is no longer available anywhere...

Well, I don't want to get spendy just to show off or anything-- just want it to match the rest of the interior.

I want a better seat to sit in that still stays within the lane of my "tasteful mods" and maybe adds a little value along the way.

They do, and I agree. Keeping the factory hides is ideal and there are plenty of guys that can work magic and bring them back to looking like a 20k mike seat.

On another note, a member here picked up a pair of SS In Good shape for $800!!! Maybe he will chime in...but he got a hell of a deal. apparently they cane from CL in Canada. Go figure...

Update: Ended up getting this set for my red car for $2800 shipped. I was the second highest bidder and the winner decided that the shipping to asia was going to cost too much and I got a second chance offer $400 less than I was going to pay for his other set of seats. Been running pretty hot lately!
