Default Broken rear reflector; plastic weld?

I'm in the process of doing the (Andrew) rehab w/the black grid & removed the lens. This reflector was previously cracked about 70% due to a fender bender from the previous owner.....I just finished it off. What is the recommended epoxy ? JB weld (regular)? the special one for plastic? Anyone that has had success "welding" plastic I'm all ears.

I recommend using a special epoxy for plastic. I was able to find mine at my local Lowes. But long term, I would plan on replacing that with a new unit. Not sure how long the epoxy will last.

As a caution, this epoxy is extra stinky. Use it in a well ventilated area.

I couldn't bring myself to buy a replacement only to break up the lens for the black grid, which is the look I'm going for.
Need to fix this. Fortunately none of this is visible once installed. Just needs to hold/seal.

his is what I used, with a bit of experience you can rebuild the tabs on the back and do the ones on top as well, just clean surface. Once dried you can dremel it to shape, yu can also Paint it black (or use magic marker) ,

I used this epoxy when re-adhering the tachometer bezel ring to the base. Exact mixing, sets well. Can't say I've ever had any issue with any of their epoxies.

Bill- when i fix plastic parts like these, i use fiberglass tape that you would use for drywall repair- tape that to the crack, and then plastic epoxy over that. It'll be crazy strong. I fix the bottom plastic trays this way and so far none have ever split where that repair is...

Funny I was just thinking of this. Since this is completely separated I thought of some adhesive/mesh type stuff (tape) to apply, then epoxy over the whole business. I just ordered the epoxy that Rocket Rob recommended so I'll go at it soon & post an "after" pic.

That panel looks very damaged. I hope it works out. Good luck!
Part of my next project is building a mold for the back of the center reflector. I hope to find some time very soon to get it going.

Thanks!
Andrew
