Default Prototipo vs Clubsport - Which steering wheel?

My '89 C4 came with the factory 4 spoke OEM steering wheel, which I quickly replaced for a Prototipo. Though I love the look/feel of the prototipo, I get bored easily. Curious everyone's thoughts on the Porsche Clubsport / 930S techquipment steering wheel? Anyone who has tried both? Additionally - any modification required to make it fit on a non-airbag 89 C4?

My current Prototipo

Have you considered the Porsche cup wheel from the 993? I have it mounted on my 964 and love it.

Yes, absolutely love it. But too similar to the prototipo - I think if I change wheels it should be a bigger change. To be honest the 993 cup wheel is what I should've gotten in the first place.

I have both, and I think the clubsport is better suited to the 964 style.
Have you actually found a (affordable) source for the clubsport with the embossing on the rim?

Is there a difference between the Cup wheel and a Mod 07 other than the Porsche script?

Found a clubsport wheel yes, but not with the Porsche script on the rim. I have a feeling those are unicorns.

I believe they're the same. If not, extremely similar.

Same wheel. I prefer the Mod 07 for the 964, they make one in leather, but you need to like the dish, its a more 'sporting' type wheel. I'm not a huge fan of prototipo. I have the 930S wheel on my carrera its been on there since near new. It's OK, I like the feel but with non power steering its quite a bit smaller than OEM and makes parallel parking an SOB.

I prefer the Clubsport wheel over the Cup/Mod 07 mainly because I prefer the thicker rim. To me the Cup is too thin but has the advantage of being closer to the driver due to the dish.

The Clubsport wheel with the Porsche script is part# 968-347-084-10-8YR. You better sit down before taking a look at the price, list is $907 and Sonnen sells it for $720.

Honestly, not as bad as I expected. I think all in I paid close to that for my Momo setup.....wheel + hub + horn contact + crest horn button.

I also prefer the mod 07 to the prototipo. The prototipo is too large and sits too close to my knees while driving.
The M07 is the same as the cup wheel without the writing and a couple hundred cheaper.

Just be aware the the cup/mod07 will put the stalks out of fingers reach. I NEED the dish but I’ve held off cause I drive a lot on mountain pass roads at night and want to use the high/low while gripping the wheel in a corner. If you don’t need the dish then I’d agree on the preference for the fatter wheel. In terms of looks alone I prefer the mod07.

Valid point, however, after driving mine for a while like this I don't really notice it? And, you're a lot less likely to smack the wiper stalk when driving aggressively :-)
