New C2 owner introduction
I've been geeking out and getting overly excited about this for a month now, so time to share!
After my sample of modern "supercars", in my quest for driving nirvana I've decided to try an old porky. Was told about this car being for sale by friends and boom, bought sight unseen. The basics:
- 1990 964 C2, manual currently sitting at 99k miles.
- 993 gearbox, LWFW, 993 Varioram and Motec M84 to run it (installed by ninemeister (UK tuner) back in 2013)
- engine rebuild at 94k miles, by Porsche Silverstone, with some upgraded parts and to 3.8 capacity.
- 993 brakes all around and Bilstein HDs.
- Pole position Recaro seats, RS door cards, so a sort of RS clone but not really.
After my purchase off it went to JZM (reputable UK independent) for a quick refresher, new oil lines and cooler, new fluids, filters, tyres and 2 pages worth of other small things. As well as fresh engine map on a dyno, showing 305 HP at 5,500 RPM.
Overall I'm not sure of some of the choices previous owners have made with regards to the mods (Motec and Varioram seem unnecessary complications). I haven't spent any money of any anything cosmetic yet, and neither have the previous owners, so it has "patina" that befits a well used porky!
I've finally collected it yesterday after the refresher, and after stalling a bunch of times (LWFW huh), I'm in love! Proper little thing, can pootle along well enough (Bilsteins aren't brill at dealing with small road imperfections), but when you give it some stick it seems to love it and asks for more!
Given this is my first old car, and it's only a decade younger than me, I fully expect to be left stranded and/or set on fire, so fire extinguisher has been ordered and I'm researching AA membership... wish me luck!
Reg is the previous owner's, not decided on mine yet. GT3 is on winter wheels! This car may be know to some on here, as I believe the previous owner posted here years ago.

Welcome to the world of 964 ownership, you won’t be disappointed! Rennlist is a great forum for accessing a wealth of information and is full of characters who really love the car. Don’t be afraid to ask questions however trivial you might think they are! Love the look of your garages, by the way, very elegant I must say. Post up some more photos of your car, inside too please? Have fun.

Lovely combo and welcome. What goes in the 3rd garage stall? =)
Off topic, this is the first time I've seen more viewers in the 964 forum than 993. Will have a drink tonight on that note.

Welcome to fun at legal(ish) speeds.
The 964 is my favorite platform this far. Enjoy her for what she was made for.
Love the touring as well. Manual cars are so much more fun.

Thank you for the kind welcome. I have been reading this forum backwards just trying to learn stuff, so much information to absorb!
The 3rd garage has a family bus inside
Will post some interior pics later, but it looks a bit tired, nothing too exciting My wish list for the car is growing, but before I spend more money on it making it “pretty”, I want to drive it the way it is. Mechanically it should be in a good state now, so just need to get out and drive!

I’ve had one for over 10 years now, and hope to never be without one. Sometimes l think about a 997 GT3, but the size of the 964 is just perfect on curvy roads. Plus, I know I would probably quickly get arrested if I got one...
It drives (looks, sounds and smells) so different for anything else out there, old or new. Very special platform.
Looking forward to updates and impressions as you get more familiar with it.
