Yes, another one of these. I've started collecting parts for my project - WB parts, because at one point I fell in love with an RSR...the look, wide and mean! Since then, I see so many NBs that catch my eye and I can tell you the ONE thing that really pulls me to the NB look...
The margin of the flat area at the edge of the wheel opening. I like that the NB has the really narrow edge there, where the turbo/wb is much...fatter/thicker. I think the smaller edge makes for a "tighter" looking wheel fitment. Anyone?

I like all of them, they all look good in different ways!

I like my WB for the way it looks in the rear view mirror.
I like the NB because it makes me think of a more nimble car.
If it is a Speedster, I prefer the WB by a long shot - the proportions with the low window just look better. It looks too small in NB.
But I will still take any of them over a lot, a whole lot of other cars out there.

Wide body by far, with the 3.8 RS being my favorite. So much so that I was thinking of forward dating my SC until I picked up the 964.
However, I went to pick up food last night and while walking back towards the car and seeing it shine under parking lot lights, it struck me again how good looking the car currently is. So I’m still undecided what to do with this car WB wise, but there’s no rush. I’m never getting rid of it.

I prefer the WB, but I think the points you picked out about the NB is what I love about the NB. I too think the WB 964 is the pinnacle of air-cooled in appearance, but I really think the NB is right behind it. Love them both!

It depends on the engine but really both bodies look great.

I have always loved the look of 964's.. but if I were to choose between looks of different iterations I would always go for the wingless WB on speedlines. The fenders (front and back) are just right! And the silhouette is quintessentially Porsche! It will never age or go out of fashion.
RUF hit the nail on the head with their new SCR.
I had portraits of my cars made by an artist with OCD-level of attention to details, you can compare them all on a side profile.. missing an RSR though
