Default Anyone switched from Brad Penn to Porsche Classic oil?

Getting ready to perform another oil and filter change. It’s been about 2000 miles or so (+/- 500 miles), but about 7 months. I’ve been driving my car more than I did last winter since we’ve had way less snow than last year.

I’ve run BP 20W50 since I got the car 2 years ago, but have been reading more about the Porsche Classic oil. Curious to know if anyone has switched from BP to the Porsche classic stuff, and what your results have been/general opinions on it? Definitely more $$ than the BP, and not available on Prime which is a bummer, but if it’s really worth the extra coin I have no problems springing for it.

Isn't the Porsche oil 10w60?. I just switched from 15w50 to 20w50 and I'm a little anxious that 20 is a bit too thick for startup on a 30 to 40F winter day. Certainly raises the oil pressure at startup though.

Did my second oil change with Porsche Classic 10-W60 in my 993 last spring.

How do I know if it's good? Hard to tell but it does not smoke or leak and the valves are silent, ioil pressure is really good and oil consumption are so low I never have to top thd oil up.

That is good enough for me!

The Porsche Classic oil seems to be available in both 10W60 and 20W50.
That said, I've been running Brad Penn 20w50 in my car and it's been very happy, with healthy Blackstone oil reports.
I'd only consider switching because the new Brad Penn bottles are so ugly and the Porsche Classic cans are beautiful...

I switched from brad penn to Porsche Classic. My mechanic said the porsche classic should really help the longevity of the motor. Runs fine. I wouldnt say i feel a significant difference. But my wallet did. Porsche classic is expensive.

I have no comment to make on the merits of BP vs Porsche Classic as I've only used the Classic in a 911 Clubpsort , but that can almost seems worth the price of admission !

Not going to lie, but part of the equation of switching does have to do with how ugly the new BP bottles are haha.

You do realize that Porsche has a long history of recommending oil that in one way or another is either good or convenient for them but not so good for the end user?

Their latest is right up there
They use a decent level of Calcium ~1804 -2025ppm and less than marginal P ~756-925, and less than marginal Zn ~770-883 in the oil analysis I've seen(they refuse to divulge what they think is in it)

Calcium is a detergent you want ~2000ppm, P and Zn are the wear protection, a minimum of 1000ppm and more up to ~1200-1400 is desirable where there is no concern for cat poisoning

Well for about 15 years porsche recommended 0w40 for all porsches. that would have done wonders for your engine.

Porsche classic may not damage your engine, but that its gonna make ot last longer is plain idiocy. but if you enjoy wasting money, have at it.
