Default Small Oil Leak Behind Passenger Rear Wheel

I'm relatively new to the 964 world, just bought my C4 Cab this summer in July. I have a small oil leak coming from behind the passenger rear wheel that leaves a dime-ish size drop of oil on my garage floor when the car sits for more than a couple of days. It also leaks while driving because the right rear corner gets a layer of oily soot and dirtier than the rest of the car after driving a while.

What should I look at first when I get in there behind the wheel and quarter panel liner? The oil reservoir is there, but I'm wondering if the experts on here can let me know what may be the most likely culprit.

Thanks!

Duane

I was going to mention the same, check that the vent plug is closed if your leak is behind the rear wheel as you descibed. Then clean everything off thoroughly and look for drips after the next drive.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I will certainly dig around and check that vent plug/oil filter drain plug is closed. Hopefully it is something this simple.

The line that runs from the oil filter housing inside the fender well, behind the engine to the driver's side of the block is prone to leakage. It's part hardline and part braided.

Agreed, I eventually traced back a few small drops as gravitating from the the engine feed pipe union on the filter housing. Any drops emanating from the the front of the secondary muffler (occasional smoking when warmed up) or muffler fixing bracket likely to be power steering fluid.

I appreciate the help very much! Last night I started rooting around and found a tube behind the rear tire that has a rubber coupling with radiator type clamps on it. Both clamps tightened a turn-and-a-half. Fingers crossed it was something that easy!

If it's the pipe that can be followed back to the thermostat at the base of the oil tank and it has a jubilee clip fixing the pipe to the union then it sounds like you have the older/earlier pipe type. Later ones have the swaged in pipe union fittings. Now you've tightened it check again once oil is up to normal operating temp and the pipe warm then try and tighten again.
