There were actucally two different cars. The first was a '92 964 turbo with an RS Body. It was a 3.2 turbo that sold for about $175,000 with 376bhp with top speed of 180 mph. A total of 80 were built.

In '94 there was a very similar car the 911 Turbo S Leichtbau. It had a 3.2 turbo, was lighter and 381 bph with a top speed of 181 mph. The car sold for $197,000. A total of 80 were built. (I said in my previous post that there we 68 produced - sorry)

These both are very rare and unique cars. Great, I'm sure for driving in traffic.

Although the're nice wouldn't a 993 TT be just as good with much more availability, thus a lower price. These are nice, but you would not be able to replace it if you broke. Where as a 993 TT is capable of being replaced. These cars are only for collectors and for dreamers like us.

I saw one of these about a year or two ago at the local dealer. Red and in beautiful condition - like new. The dealer said the owner was selling it - had a GT on order.

It's the kind of car you would want to just put in the living room and study different parts each evening. Beautiful (even with the strange front end)

Not that it really is important, but I have a feeling that Flat-6 is talking about the same car when it list the "94 3.6 Leichbau" and the 92 Turbo S. The write up on the "3.6 Leichbau" refers to the 3.3 litre turbo and 1992 release. The S was first shown in the 92 Geneva show in yellow. There were 6 righthand drives, but most the other 74 came to the US probably as 93 models. The Leichbau also talk about being the first Porsche with 18 inch Speedlines which the 92 3.3 Turbo S had. I may be wrong, but I don't think Porsche made any 3.3 turbos after the 3.6 was introduced. The only reason I had looked into this information is that I was looking to try and find one of these.

Doug - there are some subtle differences in the write-ups. The production run numbers come from two different sources, the '92 from "911 & Porsche World", Number 114, September 2003 Edition, www.chpltd.com; while the '94's are from the Flat-Six website.

I hate to step in here but I did say I would if I saw inaccurate data being used I would. The flat six web site is full of mistakes. Under the 1994 heading you are quoting they are actually talking about the 1992 Turbo S and the data presented is partiallly wrong as well.
There were 3, 964 S model Turbos
Turbo S
Turbo S2
Turbo 3.6 S (different versions, flat nose and normal nose).
This is all in my book under Turbos in chapter 1.
The Turbo S used many RS and 968 RS/CS parts.
The only RS Turbo was the 968 and I have a friend who has one of them.
The 3.3 litre turbo engine was dropped in 1992 and replaced with the 3.6.
Again the data presented on flat six is inaccurate (my way of saying wrong). It even uses copyrighted materials which required accreditation and permission.
However that is not the issue. There was no 3.3 litre 385 HP Turbo S lightweight in 1994. This was the 1992 version. The 355 HP was an engine kit also described in my book.
If you read Excelence was Expected you will also see that Weissach messed around with a very lightweight Turbo 3.6 but it was abandoned and the Turbo was sold off. Probably as a racing chassis.
The only narrowbody Turbos you will find are the RUF versions. You can even have a narrowbody RTurbo if you want one.

I need to pull your book out and get up to speed on turbos again. Just thinking about them makes me want one. I love the looks of the 964 3.3 S with the inlets and the seat with grey and key colored inserts. What would be perfect for me is the 3.6 with the inlets. I am just not crazy about the flat nose.

Not all were flat noses. However finding a normal nose is not going to be easy and they will be expensive.

I looked them up in your book tonight and saw that there were probably less than 15 without the slant nose. I'd say that is a very long shot.

I read this thread yesterday evening, and then today had an unexpected close look in the flesh. From Adrian's info above this was a 3.6 Turbo widebody flatnose with the sculpted air inlets in the rear fenders, looks like a 94 then. The chief mechanic confirmed it was the real deal, Silver, well kept and apparently used regularly with the odo around 61000 km's. Amazing car.

I would be tempted to buy the 3.6 and figure out a way to put inlets on it. If done right, would it hurt the value?

I know of several people that have had there 92 3.3 turbos reconfigured to factory spec S2's complete with air inlets. Very professional work using factory parts incredibly nice cars. Spent some serious $$ doing the upgrade. the value of the car is high but the investment was higher.

The S2s are the 20 Andial cars, no. I read Adrians info on the 964 turbos last night.

After reading his section on the Ruf ECT Evo, I am tempted look for a clean 964 Coupe or even a widebody Anniversary and see if I could get the Ruf Evo upgrade, I wonder how much that would cost. It would seem to be less expensive than an S, faster, and more exclusive. Any thoughts.

I am thinking about building a track car and have recevived the paper work from TRS. The track car is a gound up RSR clone. About the same cost.
