Wow, I was price shopping today and a full set of Toyo T1-S tires: 225/45-17 and 255/40-17's for my C4 run $988.54 USD - holy cow, tires are not cheap!!! Or is it just these??!
Are they that much better than the rest of the bunch? I see why (cost) the previous owner of my car put on Yokohamas!

Okay, here's what I found.
Edge Racing FL
225/45/17 $148 ea
255/40/17 $160 ea
Set of four $616 total
Frisbe Race Tire IL
225/45/17 $161 ea
245/45/17 $176 ea (they didn't have a price on 255's)
Set of four $675 total
Yeah, one grand is a lot for new shoes. Even with the freight, these folks offer better deals. Although I haven't shopped either, I will probably pick up my Toyo's at Frisby since they are about 15 minutes away. And I'll see if they have 255's (my first choice for rears).
Maybe pointing your dealer to the Edge website will help bring down their price.

Hey, that's a good idea... since that is sure a big price difference: $221 a piece for the fronts, mounted and balanced, and $272.77 for the rears!

Another idea: I was in talking about the F1 GSD3s at the local Good Year shop. The proprietor suggested I get several of my "Porsche buddies" together and he would be able to give us a "nice price."
I didn't pursue it because I'm not ready and I'm not sure how you would get several people to be ready for tires at the same time -- we'll see.
But I do really like the idea of "Porsche Buddies." Maybe we could put out a series of stuffed collectibles, sort of like "Beanie Babies" from a few years back. A new craze sweeps the country as "Porsche Buddies" are disappearing from the shelves.
Maybe not.

I've almost always had Dunlops on my 964 with pretty good wear/ride/handling.
I just put four Toyo T1S' on 18 inch wheels on the 94 Supra TT (9 front, 10 rear) and they are terrific! A huge change from the Pilots. I don't have sufficient time/miles to say how long they might last. Mounted and balanced by our local Porsche club supporting shop (Radial Tire, Silver Spring Maryland) and the bill was just about $800. I would look at the ads in your area PCA newsletter and contact tire vendors that support the club.
FWIW
