all show no go, and even then, don't look too close
in the world of luxury goods, there are no rules and people can spend their money how they want to make themselves happy
but imo for serious car enthusiasts who care most about the driving experience and quality/durability, this particular direction is a poor one

RWB is not my thing, but I appreciate the passion around the cars (and culture).
At the start of the weekend, I wasn't sure about this car... would it hang, could it hang? Well it's all about the driver's mindset and commitment, because this owner drove the hell out of this car and at the end of the (each) day that's what was most important. He was fun to be around, his car was fun to checkout, and it was fun to see the reactions to his car by us and all the random people we came across during the weekend. Everyone loved the driver and his car. No dissing because it wasn't a stock 964 Turbo anymore... in fact, some guys with stock cars lost interest when it started to rain, but not the guy with the tacked-on fenders... I don't care what you drive, let's have some fun with these cars. Make the car, and the experience your own.
But boy is that thing wide and hard to keep in one lane... kicks up a lot of **** from the road too!

Unbiased opinion in a 964 forum full of 964 devotees about a guy who uses crude equipment and sub par components to bastardize the cars we admire? Add to the fact that the cars have appreciated significantly for their relative purity when set against today’s options of four wheeled fun.
Sounds like a non starter.
Ive seen them. Once the shock and awe of their cartoonish appearance wears off you are left with irreversible damage and problematic flair.
The cars don’t sag as they age so leave them alone.

You all know I am not a fan. They do absolutely nothing for me and no matter how you look at it what he does is everything one shouldn't do when building a proper car that is meant to last. Most I find to be grotesque.
With that said after seeing his parts first hand and my friend painting a 3.2 Carrera to absolute perfection so he could cut it up and make it into a 964 WB monstrosity using a stock refreshed engine and suspension I gained a bit more respect for what he does. However it hasn't swayed my opinion of what the majority are Poser cars.
I have to admit the quality of his parts are second to none and on par with the best I have seen. As noted it all depends on who does the bodywork prior to the cutting and drilling begins. My friend was impressed with the quality of the parts and the lack of his needing to do anything other than prep and paint.
I have to applaud him for making such a lucrative business out of this. He has a huge following that believe what he does is art. In some ways it may be but that is in the eye of the beholder. Just like graffiti. He is a shrewd and smart businessman and from what I hear a true gentleman who is passionate about what he does. Although if it wasn't for social media he wouldn't be a thing.
Take them or leave them I for one laugh when I see one come up for sale with huge asking prices. A cutting edge supper fun to drive build could be made for the same money or less. But I believe in the Porsche philosophy function over form and to me most are the opposite.
Pics of my friends work with Akira Nakai. It is a shame he cut up one of the nicest paint jobs and nicest 3.2 targa I have seen in a while.

They are blasfemy to the Porsche 911 philosophy

I commit blasphemy daily on my porcine 964, but it’s my car and it’s my build. RWB reminds me a bit of “Pimp my Ride”, but those cars were at least unique one-offs. RWB is mass producing pimp cars.

Those wheels look like they'd be a challenge to keep in true and torqued. I don't believe much real engineering goes into these modifications, just over the top styling. Better to start with a Pontiac Fiero and tack on a fiberglass Ferrari body. Admittedly, I'm a Porsche purist and snob, but this seems like a cult following by people with more money and looking for a place to spend it. They're one of a kind, but so what?
