So the next question is was this a complete engine tranny swap? It would appear so. If the engine is original you're fine if not then you have a potential concern if it was a full engine tranny swap from another car. It could have the old cylinders if that is the case. Good news is you can buy stock cylinders relatively cheap used and have them reworked to like new for a lot less than new.

I just had a set done.

sorry for the confusion - I purchased another engine/trans recently and that was the sticker from the donor car. My car is originally a tip.

We're talking about the serial number on the engine itself - not the VIN of the car

That dawned on me just a bit ago that’s what was bugging me. I’d have to look but I think my engine number and vin serial numbers are the same

And for those of us with Nov '90 build dates, we really get to guess!

For what it's worth, my Nov 90 build had early heads (since updated), late plastic intake manifold, early rear brakes, and I'm still trying to figure out which rear suspension it has.

How do you recognize differences in rear suspension and what difference does it make? Thanks.

Thanks for the link! I'll dig around a little. I'm still in "take it all in mode" since I picked up my basket case 91...so I have some time to read up on this before it goes under the knife.
