Default New Horn..advice sought

I just bought a new horn (Ebay) and want to install. I have seen the 993 DIY on pcar and am wondering if this is the same?

Questions:

1. Do I have to remove my front fender or other body panels?
2. Is there in fact 2 horns (meaning I should wait until I have a second new one to complete this)?

It needs doing soon as the sound produced by my horn is worse than pathetic! Case-in-point: yesterday I get an SUV run the 4-way stop and almost hit me - I lean on the horn to sound my annoyance and the two lads in the truck, rather than get pissed-off, just laugh at the pathetic whimper that eminated from under my bonnet!! ...ever felt about 2 inches tall?

Yes there are two horns to give that dual note whimpy stock sound! I would forget about fitting the stock horns because they sound pathetic. Must be due to porsche's self imposed "must better the regs' emissions policy.

I replaced mine with Hellas which are compact, easy to install and are much much louder and beefier.

Here's a pic: http://www.rallylights.com/hella/com...umpet_horn.asp

I fitted mine in the wheel well which muffles the higher tones quite a bit but it gives a mellower tone but still much louder than stock.

Fit it behind the bumper grill and you will get the full bite of the horn, jay walkers will jump and SUVs will notice you

Mine were fitted up above the oil cooler, so that's where the replacement air horns went.
They still sound a bit soft though......

Oh, the answer to your original question, Howard, is that you need to remove the right side front wheel and wheel-arch liner to gain access.

The Blue Shadow (haven't seen him mentioned in a while!) has a pair of Fiamm (I think) air horns mounted just inside the bumper grill. These are VERY loud and have the advantage of vapourising anything which gets in the way!

Thanks JB, thats the info I needed!

BTW, Pzull - the replacement I have (which I thought was OEM) has "Hella" stamped on the back...were Hella's installed at the factory?

Kahdmus,
Didn't notice if there was any brand stamped on the stock horns when I ripped them out and threw them away. They were black in colour, looked like air horns with the trumpets but are not airhorns

The one (yes I realize now I need another!) is round and relatively flat....maybe its not stock and I'm already on the right track!!! :-)
