Question Speaker replacement

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but do i need to remove the door cards to fit new front speakers?

Yes you do - they fit from behind the door card.

It's not a difficult job though - 10mins

On my 1992 C2 the speakers can be removed and installed with the panel in place. If you are replacing with identical speakers, there is no need to remove the panel. If you are installing different speakers, you will need to change the crossover network, which is in a hollow place in the arm rest.

I also don't think it is a 10 minute job to remove the door panel. Perhaps after a lot a practice you can do it in 10 minutes, but a first timer needs to go very slow to make sure nothing is damaged. The most vulnerable parts are the three plastic snap posts. There are two located near the tweeter, and on on the opposite side near the door strike. These are very tight, and a special tool is needed to release them. You can pop them safely with a broad screw driver if you are very careful.

What makes it necessary to remove the speakers? If it is an upgrade, please share results.
