Reproduction rear lenses, fact finding mission

Reproduction rear lenses, fact finding mission
I'm talking with a vendor to see about getting quality reproduction rear lenses made. The current repros I've seen, seem to start fading the moment you take them out of the box. Before I proceed too far, I'd like to get an idea of how many would be interested in a quality reproduction.
As you could expect, it would just be the lenses, so some work would be required, but if they could be had for $500 a set, and wouldn't fade out in a year I think it would be worth it.
What say you?

are there reps? I only see the porsche ones, who are made by SWF. I have a new set here...
if only the lenses, at $500... for the work involved in a swap personally I'd just rather buy a new set at $800.

The best most logical option with these is to just go ahead and buy new OEM lenses. They are $480 for the center one from pelican or suncoast i believe and $1000 for full sell- its very well worth it, and really spruces up the car. All the baking old ones and trying to put new lenses and painting them usually produces pretty half ars results

The centre reflector back panels are meant to be one time use when attaching the lenses at the factory. I've removed and replaced several of these using different methods. Even the most delicate method is destructive. Factory most likely uses hot wire type of tool to put them together.
Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback guys, and "keep those cards and letters coming"!
When I looked for a set of factory pieces a year ago they were $7-800, and now they are pushing $1000, which is a chunk of change for what they are.
I'm continuing down the path to see how it all shakes out. It's not going to cost me anything to see if it's worth the effort.

I have a full set of original take outs available for sale or exchange for repro's. No cracks, just badly faded from Arizona sun. Now running a used set from LA Dismantelers, not perfect but better than what I started with.
