Default Need correct part number for an AFM

Hey everyone, in my quest to return the car back to stock I started digging for a used airbox and AFM. However I soon realized these parts new weren't actually that bad. Sunset has the airbox for $220, and the AFM it appears to be about $695. However, I can't quite figure out which of the 2-3 versions of the AFM are correct for my car? It's a 1993 C2 5 speed.

Looks like I have options of

930-606-123-X
930-606-123-00
964 606 050 00

My guess is it's the first one, since sunset also mentions this on that page:
  • Manufacturer:Porsche
  • Part Number:930-606-123-X
  • Part:Air Flow Sensor
  • Replaces:964-606-050-00, 964-606-050-X

However I'd like to be sure before dropping $700 on something I can't return. Any help is greatly appreciated!

There is only one AFM for ALL 964 model years; #964.606.050.00. The -X denotes a remanufactured part. The earlier 930 part number had the same voltage output but a different case.

In January, I purchased from Sunset 930-606-123-X for my '90 and had it installed by my wrench. As you may know, the price is $1246, but you get back about $600 when you return the old part.

The AFM I sourced from Sunset was remanufactured, but my mechanic said nothing to me of a difference in the case. It is in the car now, so one way or another, it fit or was made to fit. To your knowledge, are there fitment issues with the 930 #?

Damn, they want a core also huh? That's the problem, I don't have anything to send back to them.

If you add it to the cart, you will see that the price is about $1200 with a $501 core charge. Caught me by surprise too, but they did process the return and credit very quickly. Of course, in your case, that is of no benefit.

Good to know, thanks for the heads up. I’ll keep this one as a backup if I can’t find a used one. I’ve had a few people suggest trying to call Singer. No idea how realistic that is though..
