Default Distro Cap Malfunction..

car didnt start this am, wanted to but just couldnt pull it off. after checking the usual suspects in the front of the car i pulled the distributor caps to check the belt, which was fine. when putting the wires back on i noticed on the secondary the distro caps coil nipple was stuck inside the coil wire connector, it had completely come off the cap

inside the cap the carbon button was MIA? spring still inside though...

the rotor itself has quite a build up on it, primary on the right secondary on the left

the cap & rotor have less than 11k miles on them, so other than just sh*tty parts (BERU) what might have caused this? excess or voltage spikes from the coil? the car runs fine otherwise, i drive it daily

lucky for me i keep spares and replaced the Beru crap with Bosch so its running fine now

I bought beru caps and rotors once- and had a similar failure. Never again.

Bosch is better. Quality is still not high enough, but they haven't failed on me like the beru did.

All of these manufacturers have stepped down in quality over the past 20 years. Unfortunate. Makes you wonder if in another 20 years if we will only find certain parts from specialty manufactures...

Havana here we come...
