Default AC Suitcase Stuck/Blower Motor Wiring

I'm finally replacing the evaporator in my car. I have everything unhooked and disconnected except for the wiring going to the left and right blower motors. How do these wires disconnect? Do I need to remove the fans from the housing? I see there are two screws behind the squirrel cage I can remove. I am soooo close!

Yup, pull the motors. Be careful with the squirrel cages.

Is this what’s left of a rusty screw? Or a metal stud?

I took the advise of my indy, cut the leads to the motors and added some connections there. Much easier to deal with.

Don't forget to put a couple of drops of oil on the blower motor shafts.

Also, I have been advised to use Porsche factory o-rings on the AC fittings. Evidently some of the others do not fit correctly and could cause you issues. After all that work, it would be a shame to have a leak.

I replaced ALL the o-rings while the system was open; the ones in the left rear wheel arch, the ones in the rocker panel, the ones at the condenser (though I also replaced the condenser), the ones at the drier (you should be replacing the drier on this exercise anyway), and the ones at the compressor.

Anything to clean the dust from the motors?

Ill look into factory orings for the expansion valve. I replaced the condenser, expansion valve, and all the orings in the system last summer. Flushed the system as well and converted to double end capped pag 46 oil in place of the mineral oil. Put off the evaporator til this year. Still had some pressure in it suprisingly.

How are your blower motors? Any issues?

I just reread one of my posts and edited. Porsche o-rings on all AC fittings. I previously mentioned the expansion valve with that comment but it's a general statement and not specific to the expansion valve.

I'm sure others have sourced the o-rings elsewhere with successful results,... .I'm just passing on the intel that was afforded me and which I followed.

I dont "think" there are any issues with them? Its a cabrio so I would only use the heat in the winter and the AC never worked so I just put the top down in the summer. There is a weird residue on the passenger side where the squirrel cage sits. There is a white residue in the suitcase, looks like maybe the car sat for a while and water got it, then evaporated over time? It just wiped out. My main issues right now are wondering if the picture in the previous post is a broken screw or a metal stud, and what bandaid company to invest in due to all the cuts/nicks in hands from taking this apart.
