Im in the process of installing new shift bushings and a FVD Golden Rod in my 964. Not hard at all until I started trying to replace the E clip on top of the wavy spring loaded washers. Ive spent about 3 hrs on my back just trying to get these E clips on. If I could get them on I would be finished in 20 min.
Any suggestions? There has to be a trick to it.

I'm guessing you've solved this by now by our pm's but if not I used a good set of needle nose pliers. pushed the rod up as far as possible, slid on the washers and just got the clip lined up. Then while holding the clip straight with one hand, used the needle nose pliers to slide it the rest of the way.
