Default Steering Wheel Options

Next week I will probably be installing new seats and a few of you highly recommended changing the stock RSA steering wheel for the track. The problem is, is that VA requires that I keep an airbag since it came with one (car 75% track, 25% street I guess). The mechanic that I use for my Ford does state inspections, but won't look the other way (semi-friend). I guess they can get into big trouble for doing so. So my options are either change out the steering wheel once a year and then back, which I don't think I am willing to do, or......does anyone know of a more sporting steering wheel that encloses an airbag? Or at this point should I just stick with the stock wheel?

Thanks,

Jim

Do a search for "RS Steering Wheel". AJ makes a nice looking steering wheel with airbag. I think it is around $800. They have web site: ajusa.com. I could not find it on the site, but maybe because I was limited to my model year p-car.

Regards

Jim,

Do a forum search, as this was discussed very recently. Porsche has several alternative airbag wheels, as does RUF.

I have the AJ-USA ATIWE wheel and am very happy with it. It does appear that the aftermarket houses (including RUF and Gembella) all use a wheel made by ATIWE as the basis for their wheels (finishing it off with their choice of leathers and finishes).

Check Techart and Ruf - they have but they are expensive. I suppose FVD has it also. I would suggest that you look into the diameters also. IMO you should look for 340-350 mm max. I have tested several steering wheels and I think that 340 mm is perfect for track but gets a bit pointy and little heavy for everyday use.
