$3700
These same wheels are available new from Sonnen for $3600 a set.
Is there a premium for old wheels that have been refinished which originally came on a car even though they are going to be used on a car that wasn't spec'd with them? Is it the date codes folks are after? I've seen similar pricing on EBay.
I wouldn't mind a set of Cup I's on my 964, but the price for used ones is a little strange to me. Also considering that reps come in at $1100 a set, though they have their own drawbacks.
How long ago did you check out availability?

Porsche lists the Cup I's 7 x 17 at $1,184.00 Suncoast has them for $979 and Sunset at $896.00
The has the 9 x 17 cup I's Porsche lists for $1158.17 Suncoast shows them at $1050 and Sunset at $936.15

Most places show them for list or more although the issue is availability and some people will pay extra for proper manufacture dates. I do know of some people that have sets on order for several months now but are currently on back order so I am told. I have sold several sets for over $3600 a set and the buyers are happy to get them.

Only seen the back once of mag wheels.
I have pictures of all the versions of Cup I's and speedlines someplace both front and back. The Mag versions were indeed made by SM. Other than the markings on the face they have flat backs unlike the 00 or 01's. They aren't a true 1/3rd lighter than their aluminum counterparts due to the design changes.

I called Sonnen a couple weeks ago and they said the wheels were available in their warehouse. I was told it would be maybe a week to get them. Perhaps they are being optimistic to make the sale? I've noticed Sonnen always has the best prices when I am looking for OEM parts, for whatever that is worth.
17x7 $880.85: https://www.sonnenporscheoemparts.co...el-96536212401
17x9 $920.29: https://www.sonnenporscheoemparts.co...el-96536212800

And this is where the replicas are available for $1140/set:
17x7.5 $280: http://www.sierramadrecollection.com...er-p32666.html
17x9 $290: http://www.sierramadrecollection.com...er-p32667.html
My only hesitation with the replicas is the weight. Maybe it's not that big a deal for street driving?

These new Maxilite reps are slightly LIGHTER than the OEM wheels, and much lighter than the old reps by Mille Miglia. Ask me how I know

Thanks for the link.
The reps are a no brainer for me.

I wanted to refinish the set of replica CUPs that I have but at $125/wheel I am better off buying them new!!

Because... I ...have... had... all... and... weighed... them. ...................

The problem with Cup 1's (except for the Mg ones) has always been that they are boat anchors and sap the performance of the car. MM's especially... a 17 in rear wheel almost 30 lbs...

I have enough sets of wheels although I would be cautious when ordering. I am told that only some sizes are available and that some only one wheel is. Unless Sonnen has them in stock which is usually not the case I would expect to hear back saying they are back ordered. A similar issue happened back with the 2005 run of the 3 piece speedlines towards the end of supply and there were a number available but they all suffered from quality issues and you ended up having to settle or return them.

I just went through this buying a 993 turbo Master cylinder and everyone says they have them in stock but it is not the case and I had to pay up to get one despite what the prices listed show unless I was willing to wait a while for one.

Porsche is notorious for heavy wheels and they have their reasons. I would caution buying light weight cast replicas unless you know why they are lighter. Is it a different alloy or a reduced cross section design and will it hold up? Unless they are forged light weight cast wheel usually means inferior quality.

I’m confused then. I’ve weighed them too. [Edit: possibly wrong assumption about Maxilite ahead] The Maxilite wheels are exactly the same as the MM wheels in every way- they’re the same wheel marketed under a different name.

There were a few slight variations on the MM wheels through the years (bevel on the outer lip, stamps on the back of the spokes). They all weighed the same on my scale:
24.6lbs MM 7.5” ET52
27.0lbs MM 9” ET47

Stock supposedly:
20.5lbs 7”
23.5lbs 7.5”
26.0lbs 9”

Perhaps you’re thinking of the Borbet replicas? The 9” that I had weighed 29.0lbs. That’s really getting hefty.

Lighter is always better, but 1-2lbs per corner isn’t going to be noticeable. You should be able to easily feel the difference of 4-5lbs per corner (I could).

An area overlooked when trying to save corner weight is the weight of the tire:
255/40-17 Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 (N-spec) - 24 lb.
Continental ExtremeContact Sport - 23lb.
Continental ContiSportContact 3 - 22 lb.
Bridgestone Potenza S04 Pole Position - 27 lb.
Bridgestone Potenza S02 A (N-spec) - 26 lb.

More data to support these Maxilite wheels being lighter than OEM?

I still have 993 Cup IIs on my car and like that they are lighter than pretty much all Cup 1 variants except the MG versions.

I was quoted the following by Sierra Madre selling the replicas:
7.5x17, 10.7kg (23.5 lbs)
9x17, 10.8kg (23.8 lbs)
The point of contact said he was surprised they were listed as being so close in weight, so he weighed the display models to confirm.

This is pretty interesting. A lighter cup 1 wheel would be quite significant and I’ll happily concede that I’m wrong! I assumed these are the same as the replicas that FVD currently sells, which I bought and are a perfect match to some older MM wheels. To avoid derailing the thread further, would someone start a new thread with some good photos of the back of the Minilite spokes? Let’s see if we can take stock of the differences.

Very true. I picked up a wheel with Continental extremecontact dws and another one with Hankook RS3. The RS3 was significantly heavier. Tire size was 225/45/17.

Also agree with above. With cast wheels, too light and you're compromising strength.
