Question 3000 mi trip

Am embarking on a 3000 mi trip beginning this week. Wife insists on taking the C-4 "because it is the only car w/ CD player" any suggestions as to spares to carry (already routinely carry bulbs, fire extinguisher, fan belts, fix-a-flat, fuses)??? (oh- almost forgot t-to put a stick in some eyes- also a S&W ..45) ;-)

Have a safe trip. .45 Caliber, good choice! Not much out there that a clean double-tap can't stop, if necessary throw a third in the forehead.

Unless Horst's aim is way off, I think one .45 at close range oughta' stop just about anything on two legs.

Sounds like you're set, Horst. Just remember to check the tire pressures as climatic conditions change and keep the safety on.

Safe trip!

so the .45 is for self-defence? Do you think you will need it?

..............either that or Horst's 964 is a great getaway car after bank jobs!

On that vein, I drove my 964 from Dallas to Detroit once and stopped off in Louisiana to see the spot where Bonnie & Clyde were gunned down. Probably looks much the same now as then, very pretty countryside but precious little money around, not necessarily the safest place to be driving round in a top down 964......

Don't forget your spare DME relay.

Where is your 3000 mile trip taking you, if you don't mind my asking? Any plans to visit Rennlisters along the way?

Though, it won't help you if the fuel pump dies.

Now, how would I know that? At least I was only a block from the house when it happened (had just taken cash out of the walk-up ATM). Thought I was so prepared (a regular boy scout!), popping in my spare relay. Except it didn't do any good. Only the second time the car has stranded me in 125k miles.

Just ran out and got a DME relay as a spare. Looking at the inside of the central electrics lid I see a relay listed, R61- starting relay. I thought that would be a good one to have on hand. I looked....I saw an EMPTY position for R61!!! Looks like some villan snuck into my garage last night & stole it! I guess it won't start now. What gives? Anyhow I thought the DME relay controlled the fuel pump?

WOW, 3K in the C4, now we are all jealous! Where are you going on your trip, I hope you will be able to find some fun back roads. Just don't make the same mistake a friend of mine did on a long trip in his 911. He didn't check the air pressure in the rear and killed his tires since they had to much air in them. Best wishes and safe trip. - Jay Gratton
