10mm hex does not fit the head of the bolts, will let you know when I receive my t-60 Torx Bit.
If you are referring to the hex bolt at the top of the B6 strut it is a 7mm hex key. See pic...

And 7mm is not typically included in hex key sets. It's a VW size, apparently.

Talking the cap screws that hold the strut to the steering knuckle.

They are Torx heads as you suggest. Originals are hex, but if the shocks came with new bolts and nuts then I would use them.

Not my shock and struts, took the picture from another thread because it had a clear shot of the bolt heads.

Picture

They might be Konis? I ordered new bolts from Sunset and they set me part # 900-387-024-01 that have the Torx head same as the ones in the picture.

Reviving an old thread. I’m doing the B6 upgrade as well and I have the old red H&R springs. I understand that the green is the softer version and the red the stiffer one. Where is the new purple version in terms of harshness compared to the old lineup. Is the red springs stiffer than the new purple ones? Not looking for a softer setup. Anyone tried both?

The B6 unless I am corrected is HD, the HR springs are now purple not green. My car is now set at within +/- 5mm RS ROW height. Going below RS as you indicated will probably give you poor handling without further modifications, carriers etc. IMHO RS height looks and drives great. The B6 will give up to 40mm play in height. What year is your 964? The early 964 rear struts are slightly different in their mounting holes and height.

Seems purple replaced green springs as per above. Green is a comparable replacement for stock feel ride. I have green springs on my 964 which will never see track.
