Lowering a 964 with Bilstein & HR

MB, Unsure if I read it right, but you could install a front strut brace. Ten minute simple DIY install and relatively low cost. It will certainly tighten the front of the car. I installed a Schnell Brace, but there are lots of choices out there.

MB,
The strut brace doesn’t reduce or interfere with the frunk space. The carpet even fits back over the brace with no changes required...

Nice, that looks like a simple mod too! Added to the list.....
Hmmm, this is starting to feel like that rabbit hole that I keep hearing about.

Can I entice you in some used RS adjustable sway bars.
The 964 targas don't flex like the earlier 911's and it can vary based on the car. No doubt yours does not fall into the category but I have driven some sloppy Targas with lots of flex mostly due to leaking top and rust. Although there are differences in torsional rigidity. I have people profess that these have helped when used on track and AX.
Tires are a place to start as well, not only dia but manufacturer, sidewall construction and compound as well. The strut brace is worth doing the alloy ones are nice but pricey. You might consider the 993 steering rack brace. I made one out of inexpensive aluminum Angle for my track car and I have the Rothsport. Both appear to do the same thing. I do run much stiffer suspension modified shocks and 18" wheels on my cars.

Does anyone know of a supplier that has Bilstein B6 front struts in stock? Tire Rack has had them back ordered forever.

I had a similar issue when I ordered mine through AJ. They were on back order for nearly 4 months and each time the anticipated delivery date would get closer Bilstein would push it back another 6 weeks! I was actually contacting Bilstein directly so I knew it was a supply issue. I finally I gave up and had them sourced through my mechanic, I don’t know who his source was but he had them the next day. It might be worthwhile checking with some of the bigger Porsche aftermarket and parts places like Paragon, Pelican and others that may stock them.

Trying to get B6's for my son's Audi and I get the same story. Sounds like a production issue with the B6's.

That’s what I am hearing from Tire Rack. Been trying to get them since early March.

I hear you, a while back Tire Rack told me that they don’t expect to see them until after the summer at the earliest. I was looking for front struts as well, but I grew tired of waiting and ordered a set of KW V1s instead. HDs and H&R greens are coming off next week.

I have an order in for B6s fronts with AJ USA, which had the best price I could find ($542 for both, btw their web site is slow as death). When I placed the order in early May it was back ordered for 6 to 8 weeks. Checked yesterday and now it is 12 to 16 weeks. THMotorsports shows they have them in stock for $578/pair. So, if they are in stock, I will be ordering (and cancelling the original)

Another question, I have been accumulating all the parts pieces and tools required to complete my install. Still waiting on a right front strut, have a cutaway 22mm socket but it looks like I need a special 6 point key/socket for the pan head bolts that mount the struts to knuckles.
Looks like t-60 Torx Bit will work.
What has everyone been using and a good source for the tool?

You just need a 10mm hex socket for those pan head bolts.
I finally found B6 struts on ebay where someone had new old stock they never installed. Everyplace else is back ordered indefinitely it seems.

Glad you found some struts, I should be getting the last one I need next week.
10mm hex does not fit the head of the bolts, will let you know when I receive my t-60 Torx Bit.
