Default Safe to drill here?

Working on a DIY cup holder, and I think a simple solution is to mount a mountain bike bottle holder directly to the center tunnel with two short screws. Question: is it safe to drill where indicated on the photo?

Here's a mock-up of proposed location.

STOP

Buy an Ultimate Cup Holder and slide it in place right there.

Nope. Actually looked at that this morning on a 993, and it was not a solid fit at all. I think the console is too shallow or short to hold it securely.

Use it in my 964 all the time. Works great.

Do you have a photo of where you stuck it? I'd like to believe it works well, but what I saw this morning didn't convince me.

Not safe to drill. There are fuel and clutch lines that run along the other side. Also, don’t drill holes in your car for a cup holder

On this topic, I just received the leather-covered cup holder that replaces the cassette holder in the center console (from pelican). A regular sized water bottle flops around and my contigo coffee thermos doesn’t sit all the way down in it. So it’s getting returned. I made a lasso cup holder that attaches to the passenger seat bracket which I think that I’ll keep. After trying out the other options, the seat rail cupholder seems the best option in my opinion.

Good to know. I'm not spending $50 for a cup holder that attaches to the seat rail (although I like that design solution best). I may have to fab one myself...

I felt the same Pretty easy to diy- bend a 1/2” wide strip of aluminum into a loop, pinch it together with a nut&bolt, then drill a hole in it to bolt it to the bottom of the seat. There are a couple small holes in the frame for a ~m4 sized bolt&nut

Do you have a photo? I was going to get a 90 deg bracket and bolt one end to the cup holder and secure the other end with the seat rail bolt. But I need a slight offset to angle the cupholder away from the center console.

It’s a little rough, but works! A shot of black paint would make it a lot prettier
