Default This 964/993 RS seat, real deal or not?

Crosspost from the 993 chapter but about to close a deal on this supposedly 993/964 RS seat and still puzzled of genuine or not. Looks genuine to me but I have never seen a blue leather RS interior. What do you guys think?

Pictures aren't that great, a few stickers not in place, but it appears to be a correct seat. The embossed "RECARO" on the back of the headrest makes me feel more comfortable about saying it's authentic.

Have you tried these seats before? If you have the opportunity to sit in one before buying it I would (and did) unless you are looking at this as an investment opportunity. I found the original seats to be one of the most uncomfortable things i have ever sat in.

The easiest way to tell is by lifting the bottom cushion and confirm they are suspension seats.

Also, I don't recall these seats ever having a hole on the bottom.

*After looking at the pics again, I would day they are not real. You can see the bottom of the leather cushion though the hole. There should be a "trampoline" there, and I don't think having a hole in the trampoline would work for the 5th point.

Comfort over stability. If you have a BIG arss, over 5'10 and a waistline that exceeds 34, then you might have a problem. My buddy who's 6'2" can't fit in my RS seats, WHICH by the way are different than the "964 Speedster" seats. If you pass on this seat, let me know.

None of these have holes in the the bottom and they are suspension seats.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I have driven cars with these seats so know what they're like.

@vegas993; I know there are two versions, the speedster version that has the trampoline/spring like support. And the 964/993 RS types that simply have an extra cushion between the seat base and the the top cushion ( attached with velcro ) that you can remove for an extra low seating position and more grip. Either the trampoline support is missing or the extra cushion is missing as like you say to looks the leather is visible through the middle hole ( with btw is also present on the original 964/993 version ). I've asked the seller for picks of the seat base without the cushioning, it should either show velcro or the hooks for the trampoline support.... will report back when I know.

There are two main concerns for me: I have never seen an original RS leather seat other than black or the triple blue, gray or purple. This one is all blue including the shell. The other concern is the missing trampoline or extra support on the base of the seat.

Exactly Vegas, the speedster version have the trampoline and no hole. That would make this one a 993 RS version ( and the production date on the sticker says 1995... ).

Off course there is a good chance that this seat is some sort of Frankenstein seat, shell of a speedster seat, DIY cut hole for the 5th strap etc. Would also explain the holes int he bottom and the non OEM brackets.

I've had four 964 RS's, only one of them had those "extra" cushions. My guess is they were optional, and when fitted make the seating position far too high and lacking in support (as they use a denser foam compared with the other cushions used in the seat). Apart from Euro 996 GT3 seats, these are the most comfortable seats ever fitted in a Porsche.
To the best of my knowledge the 964 Speedster was the only 964 seat that had the suspension webbing. All my 964 RS seats had solid bases and the slot in the base of the shell for harness fitment.

Note the "optional" cushion has the harness slot too :

Thanks Atgani, great info and makes me a bit more optimistic about the originality!

Interesting, I feel like I've seen seats advertised as 964 RS seats that were suspension seats like the Speedster. That makes me feel better about my measly Pole Positions, although the webbing does look cooler than the plain backs, lol.

What do you guys suppose the extra drilled holes are for?
