Three Wheelin'
Got bored yesterday and weighed a complete 964 wiring harness I pulled out of a car... 27 lbs! I thought it would be more! Guess I wont shave weight by thinning out the harness!

A lot of good data here, but hard to compare apples
to apples unless you know how much fuel weight you have. “Half a tank” can swing a reasonable amount. Fuel is ~7lbs a gallon...
my car as it sits is ~2880 with an empty tank.
Deleted cat
deleted secondary muffler
no airbags
no stereo head (speakers still in doors)
e88s with nt01s
fiberglass ducktail
lowet dash delete
easy wieght still to go:
battery
seats
spare
then it gets expensive, or time consuming with little returns...

The weight was the sum of corner balance weights at Andial when car was set up new. Would of had 8 x 17 & 9.5 x 17 cup 1 with Toyo race tires, car is a little lighter as it sits today. It is a tremendously entertaining track car but one that is too valuable for mere mortals like myself to race anymore-

My C4 is 1270 kg for 294 bhp. lots removed, no stereo, lower dash board, center console, plexi rear windows .
I still have a few things to remove, it gets very difficult as it is a road car, safety and confort is a concern,
Owners of early cars with no sunroof have a easier start, the lower dash board and airbags plus all looms are a task on top, not to mention the sun roof.
I still have the AC, looking at a few ideas, almost convinced to remove the AC, converting electric windows to manual, apparently the original bumpers are heavy, front and back beams, wings ,
the doors are a big saving but safety is an issue, looking on how it could be done maybe with a carbon skin ? or cut out some of the inside ? .
we could have a thread where owners can post their experience, comparing weight difference between parts and upgrades.

1138kg/2508lbs 1/4 tank of fuel, only lightweight parts are wheels, all other weight saved by stripping off unnecessary parts while keeping it road legal
target weight is 964kgs as this weight seems like a nice round number

I'm really intrigued with the weight loss idea. About to order an rs carpet set and doing all the other usual things.
What are people's experiances, if i take 100kg out of my car will it be a rocket ship or is it subtle?
If I make my car weigh 850kg (i know this is probably not possible) but that would give it roughly the same power to weight ratio to a 550hp 1740kg Nissan gtr35 so does that mean it will perform the same?
Sorry if these are stupid questions!

100kg makes a huge difference but by no means will it be a rocket.
A r35 GTR is 1740kg (3840lbs) so at 550hp it's 6.43hp/lbs
A 2700lbs 964 making 300 hp is pushing 9lbs/hp. Aka, a long ways away.

100kgs will bring your car alive, it will improve every aspect of performance, acceleration, cornering, and braking
Don't think a 850kg 964 would keep up with a GTR35 as the extra grip from four wheel drive would be too big an advantage

Umm... while it's noticeable, you're not suddenly going to think that you're in a gt3. Consider how different the car feels with a 220lb passenger on the street. Not a lot. If you're checking lap times, then sure there's some improvement.
