Crank case beyond repair or not?

Crank case beyond repair or not?
Just getting ready to start my rebuild and found one of the crank case halves cracked in the bottom.
Does anyone here have experience in repairing crank cases? Can it be welded up and in that case how?

If that was a rare case (such as original RSR/GT-2) indigenous to that car, I would repair it since new ones are NLA, however with a street car, I would get another used one.

That's not normal wear and tear. To me it looks like either the engine was dropped or some weird jacking operation was undertaken on the case wherein the car was lifted by the case in the wrong manner.

The engine was bought as a spare for my project and comes from a wrecked car. I’m guessing it happened during the incident...
it it was not visible (to me) before I cracked the case open.

I agree, given the paucity of second hand cases available (Singer impact) the only option may be to weld it up. Assuming it's still dimensionally correct, I wonder what the downside is given the number of fasteners holding the case in place?
Any other pics OP?
Here's mine

To further on the idea, I personally know of (2) 356 cases that were cracked around the sump plate, JB welded literally on the side of the road, and finished their rally raid without any issues. One has been driven several thousand Kms as repaired before being taken apart for a rebuild.
Tough engines, low stress area. I am not sure I would risk it around a crankshaft webbing, but down there, with correct welding and machining of the mating surfaces, I would not think twice about it, after the numbers are determined in favor of repair.

Jacking the car up at that lift point did NOT crack the case.
Some kind of hard impact caused the damage and I've seen quite a bit of that over the last 42+ years..

It is a bit strange that only half the case has the damage.
