Are you in Whittier, Illinois? If so, you can borrow one of my bottles and try it. Let me know, send me a PM, I'll ship it to your home/office.
Thank you Sir but no, I am in Whittier California. Just ordered a bottle. My future son-in-law has a 61 VW bug that he completely restored and he misses the smell of the original interior as well. I think he will be using some of this.

Sal Zaino has excellent customer service, your order has probably already shipped. Let us know what you think next week. It has a great aroma, a nice matte finish, and good conditioning properties. I've been using it for about 11 years. I apply it to clean & dry leather (the day before using Zaino I use the Lexol Cleaner in the orange bottle, with warm water and a high quality Swiss brush). Let the Zaino dry/cure overnight, and then give it a quick wipe/buff the next day with a dry 100% terry cloth towel. Don't do it the night before an autocross......the leather is a little too clean and slippery.
I put used black front/rear seats in mine so they still retained a little bit of that smell, but mine was previously pretty strong. My wife didn't really like driving in the 964 but now she loves the new interior and doesn't seem as bummed to go for a ride. It doesn't smell NEW CAR that's for sure. It still has a very vintage vibe to it without reeking of cigars/cigs and whatever else.
I actually used to think my interior was in really good shape until I compared the old carpets on the ground to what I was putting in. 27 years old....frankly, they were disgusting.
