Another point. Every thing you touch will be dirty. If that dirt gets into the oil lines it will go through the engine before being filtered, including the tiny holes that put oil on the tappets. Block one of those and you will be up for $$$$. Be very clinical about cleanliness.
Some books talk about crows foot spanners. I use normal 32mm and 36mm spanners. If you are lucky a gorilla hasn’t been in there before and they will come undone easily.
Btw: as you have signaled that funds are tight, I suggest that you stick to your plan or order only after you know the line is bad. There are a lot of smaller lines that could be the cause of your leak. Find the culprit before committing to $$$

But Yes, Definately wanto be sure! I've been reading up all night on that particular hose and people have claimed a better quality getting their original hose rebuilt. I'll look into that if it's the culprit.

That's a good point, I have things pretty clean underneath but I'll be sure to super clean everything and cover all the holes.

Sounds like you need a degree in medicine to work on the engine based on above. But seriously it is very good to read and learn these things.
Given the relatively good protection in that area I’d say this has been leaking for quite some time. You may find that it’s seepage more than leakage. Fingers crossed.

Got it all cleaned up, about to go for a drive to see what happens! Hopefully it's just something easy!
99% sure it's the thermostat to oil filter hose. Now I just have to work out how far I wanto go with it (do i replace everything) and whether I should buy new or get this one rebuilt.
I've read people have alot of trouble with new ones but have greater success getting them rebuilt.
I had a bit of a practice at tightening the engine sump plug as I've never used a torque wrench before. 37 ft-lbs seems very tight, I've set the torque wrench correctly.
D, post a pic of the torque wrench so we can see your setting. I would use NM not Ft-lbs. Metric system is so much more logical and German. I think that torque wrench has a flip side for NM.
