Default Clock substitute

Has anybody thought about the idea of replacing the clock with something else?
I was thinking about putting either a GPS system that mirrors the phone or a lap timer.

It would be great if I could just put an old iPhone or a touchscreen that mirrors my phone.

Singer has a chronograph but I am not sure it is functional

Any thoughts?

That Singer clock is all fake, the small dials are non functioning and Singer have made it without any permition from TAG Heuer to use the Heuer logo.

But the look is top dollars!

The problem with replacing the 964 clock with something else is that the clock dial incorporates a lot of indication lights.

Yeah I learned about those fake 3 quadrants - still looks killer!
I still think that putting a small smartphone there may be the best way...

You would need to find another place for the clock possibly on the other side of the cluster. Rennline and others sell smart phone brackets that fit around the clock and hold it in place.

I replaced the clock with a boost gauge for my turbo.

Nice who makes those and I am assuming they are clock replacements with boost gauge instead of clock. If you don't have the circuit for the alternator things will get screwed up.

a little OT, but a non-functioning chrono that may or may not have the explicit approval of Heuer on a $500k car to me is pretty effing cheesy......

The only known Singer/Heuer connection known among watch collectors are that way back Heuer used to buy dials from a company called...Singer!

LOL
Different Singer. I believe they were sourced from the Kearfott division.

When they cost closer to $700k it makes them..... priceless.

This is what I had in mind although:

1) requires obd2
2) I have no interest in viewing what’s going on in my trunk while I drive lol

The clock has all the warning lights for the car and it also controls the alternator charging. Without it you will have issues. Interesting video device but won't work in the clock location.
